Come One, Come All To The Liberty Ball

It’s time again to gather for Independence Day
under the Statue of Liberty’s skirt,
where freedom’s fold can share the same feast
from democracy’s ancient table
allow the winds of choice to inspire our joy
inhaling the euphoria from the air of Old Glory’s waving image.

So we gather in our many clans,
spread our tablecloths of celebration
across the face of our nation
for barbecues and fireworks in remembrance
cherishing the rituals of our nation’s legacy in nostalgia.

Now while we want to let the gusto grow
wisdom does need to be exercise,
never use gasoline for lighter fluid
or let your lit cigarette ashes come to close to the liquid
otherwise you’ll be the big explosion!

Just take time so savory every tasty morsel,
which makes the holiday so filled with pride and nostalgia,
careful to remember that patriotism and preparation
are not quite the same thing
because if you forget to keep the potato salad out of the sun for hours
you could end up being green for the times of red, white and blue.
