Stamp Collecting

Little seals placed over the eyes

while mailing the mind to labyrinths

of happiness’ extreme.

Told rulebook for living

tucked inside a door,

found somewhere in the maze’s hallway,

no directions given

must be found by guessing,

though everyone says

you can’t survive without it.

Even if it is discovered

never told there is no key,

it is all a game you can’t win

though that is never told.

Just following the shuffling trail through life

across a slippery floor,

rolling dice to see what move

gets you to the exit.

What gives strength to endure the chaos

is listening to the voices

of those lost inside

trying to convince

how it is a good place to hide.

Showing their envelopes with stamps

from places visited by letter,

deciding you are winner

within this collection play

because it is easier

than accepting the whole process

was never meant to make sense.
